The 2012 doomsday theory roots to the ancient Mayan civilization. The Mayans are a group of Mexico-American tribes who were well versed in astrology, astronomy and other astro based sciences. According to their predictions, it is supposed that the world ends on the 21st of December 2012. They devised a calendar predicting the end of the world and their calendar ends on this particular day. Thus the 2012 doomsday theory clearly states that the doomsday is approaching and the final day of the earth is 21st December 2012. Although some scientists say that no such predictions or theories are valid, yet the fear still remains in the heart of millions of peoples around and across the world. There are different versions of the doomsday theory one such version states that the world will end due to a catastrophic collision with an alien planet and another version states that a major geological reversal resulting in the shift of tectonic plates will occur. One fine version states that a meteor attack will take place resulting in destruction of different places in earth causing it to submerge and after this only 3 percent of the world will be covered in land.

Some concluded by saying that the Mayans used to have a 5125 years cycle and the cycle ends on this particular day. Some say that the modern civilization came into existence around 3100 BC and that’s exactly when the kali Yuga specified in the Hindu traditions began. The Mayans too came in to existence around 3113 years. The life span of earth according to Mayan civilization is exactly 5125 years from the beginning of the modern civilization and the exact date can be traced around the present millennium era. Thus the 2012 doomsday theory has different aspects and version, all clearly stating that the world ends on the 21st of December 2012 at exactly 5.45 in the evening.
The 2012 doomsday theory is valid up to certain extent but still no exact proof has been found till date. Scientists are busy collecting facts and data and research is being conducted so as to find whether the world really ends on this particular day. If the world does end on this particular day, it is our duty to get prepared for it and should act together to save our home planet. If that’s impossible then we have to join hands together to face the reality. Everyone is going to die at some point of life and death should be welcomed as it is also one of the aspects of our life. Since no exact proofs have been declared, we are now in safe hands.
